Yes, it is in fact both a lighter and an mp3 player. With only 1GB of space, you’ll probably only have enough music on it to cover your cigarette break, but if your cigarettes are an mp3 player too, you’re in better shape.
Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em! Or not, if they’re not real.

The eagerly awaited next installation in the Prince of Persia franchise has been given a name. Prince of Persia: Heir Apparent got a spread in Game Informer and this enterprising fellow has scanned the article. It’s in French, but hey.
Judging from the scanty screenshots provided, the graphics have a new cel-shaded look which may or may not go well, and the character design looks a little more like Sword of the New World than anything else. Last time they made a departure (Warrior Within) it was kind of weak, so let’s hope the new game has the chops to go along with the new style.

Sprint’s finally giving the thumbs up to its Xohm service, currently being tested in the DC area. Xohm is Sprint’s deployment of WiMAX, and it has spent millions getting it ready as a 4G network to replace the current 3G system.
WiMAX is widely regarded as the successor to current generation cellular service, and Sprint’s the first one out of the gate with implementation. Look for devices to start appearing this summer as it starts turning on the service in markets across the country.
The T-Mobile Sidekick Slide, my last one, has gotten itself a nice little body mod and is now available in scarlet red for $199 from T-Mobile. Hopefully this one doesn’t have that pesky rebooting issue.
GM is currently holding the Challenge X competition and today it rolled into NYC. Unfortunately, I’m on my deathbed and was unable to make it to Central Park this morning, but thanks to YouTube I can give you a glimpse of what’s going on. Challenge X is an engineering competition that has 17 North American universities competing against one another to rebuild a Chevy Equinox to make it more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. The above video is from a track day held in New Jersey at the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. I’ll post video from today’s event once it’s up. It’s good to see an American automotive company caring about the future while they’ve been helping to pollute it for the last 50 years. Heh. Full list of teams after the jump.

Watch nut Nubo reviews the massive Marathon CSAR chrono, a beautiful tool watch that looks like a tank. Marathon is a Canadian company that makes watches for the U.S. military and they sell really nice automatic watches with Swiss movments (this is a 7750 Valjoux) and lots of extraneous markings just to make things cooler. $2,500 gets you one, if you can find it.

Canon was kind enough to send this to me earlier today and I’m happy to post for all you Canon fanboys or potential fanboys. The offer runs from May 18 to July 19, 2008.
All of you with a jailbroken iPhone should check out iSlick (it’s on Big Boss), an application that connects your little wonderdevice to the SoulSeek file-sharing network. SoulSeek, for the uninitiated, has plenty of rare music files from which to choose; all types of files can be found on there, but music is definitely its forté.
While you can’t upload files using the application yet, it can download files—to /var/mobile/Media/Downloads—just fine. Not having an iPhone, jailbroken or otherwise, I can’t try it, but the above video looks just great. Just great!
[On a completely unrelated and off-topic note, comedian Bill Burr turns 40 on June 10 and he needs our help. His podcast, he says, only has 15 listeners. If the number of listeners cracks 20, he'll be much the happier. Do him a favor and subscribe. The man isn't too bright; he moved out to Los Angeles looking to "make it" in the midst of the writers strike. The language isn't SFW, obvs, but he's pretty good, I think.]

Aside from gorgeous flight attendants (gah!), Singapore Airlines is now offering iPod and iPhone connectivity to business class passengers on flights between New York and Singapore. Flights between Los Angeles and Singapore will get the same feature some time in August of this year. According to a recent press release,
The integrated 9-pin connection on KrisWorld uses a unique in-flight cable that supports iPod and iPhone via the 30-pin connector, including in-seat power supply and high quality audio. iPod and iPhone will still allow for the announcements and instructions made by Singapore Airlines cabin crew and pilots to be heard even while content is being played. Customers can take advantage of iPhone’s airplane mode to safely use the iPhone through the integrated system.
Each seat features a 15.4-inch widescreen display and noise canceling headphones.
