Here’s your chance to create your own remix of Nude, the third song on Radiohead’s groundbreaking In Rainbows. Radiohead just released Nude (Make Your Own Remix) on iTunes. It consists of five stems — bass, drums, strings FX, voice, and guitar — that you can use to create your Nude remix. In fact, if you’d like to create your remix in GarageBand or Logic, purchase all five stems before April 8, and we’ll send you an access code for a free GarageBand project file. Then upload your finished mix to the Radiohead remix site, where fellow fans can listen to and vote for their favorite remix. (Terms and conditions apply.)

After testing the latest versions of ten Mac OS X web browsers, Macworld’s Joe Kissell concludes that “Apple’s Safari emerged as a clear favorite, with its excellent standards support, its friendly user interface, and all the capabilities most people will need.” As a result of its performance in the tests performed, Safari earned a 4.5 (out of five) mouse rating.

According to a survey conducted by brandchannel.com, “the Apple brand has the biggest impact on the world’s consumers,” reports Rachel Sanderson (reuters.com). Asked “to identify the brands with the greatest impact on their lives,” respondents named Apple [the] overwhelming winner. The creator of the iPod and Mac computer triumphed in six categories including most inspiring brand and the one readers cannot live without.”

In his review of the new AirPort Express, Dan Frakes (macworld.com) awards four mice (out of five) to the base station that’s “compact enough…to fit in a laptop bag and designed to plug directly into an electrical outlet” while providing a “full-featured 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless access point.” He calls it “the choice to make if you’re looking to extend your existing Apple-branded network wirelessly or to wired devices, to send your computer’s audio to a remote stereo system, or to use a Base Station in more than one location.

Dan Havlik (pdnonline) heard it right from the source. Senior Aperture product manager Joe Schorr tells Havlick that “we want software companies to know they have an open door to develop plug-ins for” Aperture 2.1. “We want there to be no limitations on what you can build in Aperture.” Havlik believes that “opening up Aperture 2.1 should definitely turn some heads in the professional photography community,” especially when they see Havlik’s list of developers already in the process of creating image editing plug-ins.

In “the seventh Aperture-related software release from Apple in a little over six weeks,” reports Rob Galbraith (robgalbraith.com) in his first look at Aperture 2.1, Apple rolled out the addition of image editing plug-ins. In addition to taking an extensive look at the Apple-developed Dodge & Burn plug-in — which he thinks will “quickly become an indispensable tool” — Galbraith also delves into what he considers “the real story” of this release: “among early plug-in creators are Nik, with Viveza, and PictureCode, with Noise Ninja,” and he describes the value that several expected plug-ins (including Power Stroke from Digital Film Tools) will offer Aperture users.

Released today, Aperture 2.1 introduces an open plug-in architecture that lets photographers use specialized third-party imaging software from right within Aperture. In fact, customers downloading the Aperture 2.1 update will receive the new Dodge & Burn plug-in. Developed by Apple, it adds brush-based tools for dodge (lighten), burn (darken), contrast, saturation, sharpen and blur. Aperture 2 customers can download the free Aperture 2.1 Update by visiting the Aperture download site.
