What it does
1.fm is a new streaming music service/social network. It comes with a wide selection of music channels, ranging from Indie and Jazz, to Trance and Urban Gospel. The usual social network features are included. You’ve got profiles, forums, chat, and videos. The site also comes with an event calendar and it features music and entertainment news. 1.fm features a large variety of music video channels including Legends of Rock, Heros of HipHop, New Wave, and House Party. On the music end, to start listening to any station, all you have to do is simply pick a genre and tune in. Some sets are available for download and for mobile. Users can rate selections and add comments. Registration is required for access to all features.

The site feels loose and unorganized. Listening to music isn’t as straightforward as it should be. Also, there’s a lot of stuff going on within the site that may confuse users. It needs more work on the design end, as well as the social features.
